FMLA

FMLA applies to employers with at least 50 workers within a 75-mile radius of the workplace. Covered employers are required to provide eligible employees up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave during any 12-month period for the following reasons:
    the birth or adoption of the employee’s child;
    the serious illness or the employee’s spouse, parent or child; and
    the employee’s own serious medical condition.
Employees on an approved FMLA leave of absence must be allowed to continue their health benefits coverage under the same terms and conditions as an active employee.
